terraced rice fields to a golden beach with a silver

KAWAH IJEN AND SUKAMADE

Detail Itinerary
Day 1 : South Bali - Banyuwangi (L/D)
09:00 hrs We pick you up from your hotel in South Bali and proceed
via Tabanan and Negara to the ferry terminal in Gilimanuk on the
extreme north western tip of Bali. Then cross the Bali Strait to
Banyuwangi. You will arrive in the early afternoon and check into
Ketapang Indah Cottages. In the evening we take you to Baluran
National park to watch the wild deer at Savanah.

Day 2 : Banyuwangi - Kawa ijen - Kalibaru (B/L/D)
05:30 hrs Early morning breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast, departure to the Ijen Highlands. From the village
of Licin onwards we transfer you to an off road vehicle. It takes
approximately one and a half hours to walk the steep path that leads
to the crater of Mount Ijen. Kawah Ijen is almost 2900 meters high
and one of Indonesia's most impressive volcanoes. It is an
unforgettable experience to watch how hundreds of men are hauling
heavy loads of sulphur that is extracted near the lake inside the
crater. After walking down again and a picnic lunch, proceed to
Kalibaru and check into Marga Utomo cottages.

Day 3 : Kalibaru - Sukamade (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the hotel
08:00 hrs We drive across the extensive plantations of East Java and
the mountain range of the Meru Betiri nature reserve to the
protected Sukamade 'Turtle Beach', a wild 3 kilometre sand strip on
the Indian Ocean where 5 species of turtles come ashore to lay their
eggs. Stay at the lodge nearby and return to the beach at night for
turtle spotting. Conditions here are very basic, but more often than
not visitors are lucky enough to come back with an experience that
is both unique and bound to become exceedingly rare.
Dinner and accommodation at a Losmen (simple accommodation)
Day 4 : Sukamade - Kalibaru (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the losmen
Spend the morning exploring the surroundings of Sukamade. This is an
area virtually void of people. Go and take a dip in crystal clear
waters of the nearby river. Leave in the early afternoon to be back
at Marga Utomo before dark.

Day 5 : Kalibaru - Bali (B/L)
Breakfast at the hotel
08:30 hrs In the morning we visit the harbour of Muncar, which is
filled with hundreds of colorful fishing boats. Return to Banyuwangi
and after the ferry crossing, turn southward following the western
coast. We take you back to your hotel in South Bali or to the
airport.
