Indonesia has some of the best
surfing spots in the world, the locations are exotic, with
beautiful beaches and great waves. With so many waves to
choose from there are numerous surfing holiday destinations
throughout Indonesia. Surfing is commonly done off the coast
of Bali., Java, Lombok, Sumbawa, Sumba Timor and Flores.
Surfing in Indonesia caters for all surfers from the
beginner to the professional, the best time to visit this
surfers paradise is April to September
Bali is probably the most frequented destination for
surfing, so be warned it can get crowded. The waves are
good, and there is a wide range of accommodation to pick
from and a vibrant nightlife. Padang Padang and Ulu Watu
with its famous entry cave, are probably the most famous
surfing spots in Indonesia, but both these locations are for
the experienced surfer. Bali does also cater for the
inexperienced surfer at Kuta beach.
If you're not keen on crowds then maybe try one of the
surfing camps located on Nias Island - Lagundin Bay, Java -
Garajagan and Ombak Tujuh and Sumbawa - Cempi bay. Waves in
these places are less crowded, accommodation is simple, food
is good and you are provided with a more local cultural
experience. Indonesia is a real surfers paradise - so don't
miss out.
