TRAILS OF JAVA - Java remains one of the most
fascinating parts of Indonesia and is an absolute
must to a first time visitor. It is an island of
smoking volcanoes and incredible fertility, an
island of exceptional history, culture, and
contrasts. It is one the most densely populated
parts of the planet and the cities are incredibly
crowded, but there are vast stretches of open
country in between, of great and ever changing
beauty. No one fails to be impressed by this
remarkable island.

Day 2 :
Yogyakarta - Borobodur - City Tour (B/L)
Breakfast at the hotel
07:00 hrs We will bring you to the most
spectacular and world's biggest Buddhist monument complex. It was
built around 800 A.D. Pick up from the hotel and drive about one
hour to visit Borobodur. Looming out of a patchwork of bottle-green
paddies and swaying palm tops, this colossal Buddhist relic is one
of the continent's marvels. After the decline of Buddhism and the
shift of power to East Java, the monument was abandoned soon after
its completion. For centuries the complex lay forgotten, buried
under layers of volcanic ash. Climb up to the top and enjoy a
wonderful view on the Menoreh mountains. Enough time is given to
stroll around the complex and to discover its beauty. Afterwards
continue to visit the nearby located temples such as Candi Pawon,
Mendut. We proceed to have lunch a local restaurant.
After lunch, you will visit the Kraton Palace,
located in the heart of the old city; the huge palace of the sultans
of Yogyakarta is effectively the centre of a small walled city
within the city. Over 25,000 people live within the greater Kraton
compound, which contains its own market, shops, batik and silver
cottage industries, schools and mosques. Just at the edge of the
Water Castle, visit of the Pasar Ngasem (Bird Market). Afterwards,
continue to Kota Gede. Kota Gede has been famed as the hub of
Yogyakarta's silver industry since the 1930's. But this quiet old
town, which is now a suburb of Yogya, was the first capital of the
Mataram Kingdom, found by Panembahan Senopati in 1582. Visit the
busy silver workshops.
Late afternoon return to your hotel.

Candi Brahma & Candi Vishnu, Candi Nandi as well as the Candi Sewu.
