DANUM VALLEY - Borneo Rainforest
Lodge is located within the famous 43,800 ha Danum
Valley Conservation Area in the midst of almost 1
million ha timber concession area of the Sabah
Foundation. Danum Valley is the largest protected
area of undisturbed lowland dipterocarp forest in
Sabah where trees can grow up to 50m tall. The
forest is rich with over 200 species of trees being
found in one hectare. Danum Valley Field Centre, one
of the foremost rainforest research centres in
Southeast Asia is 32km from the Borneo Rainforest
Lodge. At the Lodge, natural history tourism
complements the effort of conservation of the Danum
Valley. Guided walks/trekking on nature trails,
night drives in the back of open Land Rovers and
canopy walkways are organized to view wildlife and
high floral biodiversity in their natural habitat.
Danum Valley is a Bird's Paradise with 275 species
documented including all eight species of Borneo's
hornbills.
Detail Itinerary
Day 1
: Lahad Datu/Danum Valley/Night Spotting (Lunch,Dinner*)
09.30 hrs Depart for Danum Valley by land. Drive for approximately 2
hours 30 minutes to reach Borneo Rainforest Lodge. Along the way,
wildlife may be spotted
12.00 hrs Arrive Borneo Rainforest Lodge. Short briefing of the
lodge
13.00 hrs Lunch at jungle lodge
14.00 hrs Afternoon, guided nature trail by the lodge experience
naturalists Experience an exciting suspension canopy walkway to see
wildlife
19.30 hrs Dinner at jungle lodge
20.30 hrs Nature slide presentation on wildlife, ecology &
activities in Danum Valley
21.00 hrs Night drive in an open jeep with a spotlight in search of
wildlife
22.00 hrs Return to jungle lodge and overnight
Day 2
: Borneo Rainforest Lodge & Wildlife Treks (B,L,D*)
06.30 hrs Birds watching at Bill's Corner
08.00 hrs Return to jungle lodge for breakfast
09.30 hrs Proceed for nature trails with the lodge experience
naturalists through the undisturbed riverine and lowland dipterocarp
forest. Visit to the ancient Dusun Burial site and trek up to View
Point
12.00 hrs Return to the jungle lodge for lunch
13.00 hrs Lunch
14.00 hrs Extended hike to look for Orang Utans, birds & other
wildlife along nature trails
17.00 hrs Return to the jungle lodge.
19.30 hrs Dinner
21.00 hrs Optional night guided walk to salt-lick observation points
to see wildlife. Or, another night drive in an open jeep to search
for more wildlife.
22.00 hrs Return to jungle lodge and overnight.
Day 3
: Danum Valley/Lahad Datu (B,L*)
06.30 hrs Early morning jungle walk and bird watching before
breakfast
07.30 hrs Return to jungle lodge for breakfast
09.00 hrs Brief visit to the waterfalls, pools and hike upstream
12.00 hrs Return to jungle lodge for lunch
12.30 hrs Lunch
13.30 hrs Depart jungle lodge for Lahad Datu
16.00 hrs Arrive Lahad Datu (BNT Office). Transfer to hotel or
airport for flight departure to Kota Kinabalu or by road overland to
Sandakan

What to bring :
Raincoat, hat, insect repellent, sun lotion, swimwear, towel, torch
& toiletries, good walking shoes, a pair of leech socks or thick
socks, comfortable cotton-T-shirt, long or short pant.
