DAY 1 : Arrive Bhamo-Irrawaddy Cruise (Lunch, Dinner)
Arrive in Bhamo by Myanmar Airways flight from Mandalay. Bhamo is an ancient gateway to China and an important centre for cross border trade that was until recently off limits to foreigners. It is now possible to visit this area of Myanmar and the city is the ideal starting point to explore the rarely visited gorges of the Irrawaddy. There is time for some sightseeing around Bhamo before embarking on the Malikha Beauty, a simple but comfortable cruise boat accommodating up to 14 passengers in air-conditioned twin cabins. Cruise through the most dramatic of the three Irrawaddy gorges with cliffs towering over the narrow channel stopping to visit Shwe Gu, a ceramics making village en route. Overnight on board.

DAY 2 : Irrawaddy Cruise (B, L, D)
Continue cruising downstream to the delightful colonial town of Katha, setting for George Orwell's classic novel 'Burmese Days'. On arrival in Htigyaint visit Pagoda Hill with its stunning views of the Irrawaddy River and spend some time exploring this pleasant little town of wooden houses. Overnight on board.

DAY 3 : Irrawaddy Cruise (B, L, D)
A morning visit to Tagaung to see the fortifications, a famous Nat or animist spirits' shrine and the archaeological area. Continue downstream on the Irrawaddy for the rest of the day stopping to visit Kyauk Myaung, famous for manufacturing handmade 50 gallon water pots! Overnight on board.

DAY 4 : Irrawaddy Cruise-Mandalay
