The annual overnight wine
cruise presented by Emeraude Classic
Cruises will be held on May 24-25 at Ha
Long Bay in the northern province of
Quang Ninh.
The black-tie event
will be hosted aboard the Emeraude
cruise ship, which is a reproduction of
a 19th-century paddle wheel Steamer.
Attendees will enjoy a gourmet dinner,
live jazz, wine tasting and the beauty
of Halong Bay’s peaceful waters and
limestone formations.
"People want a cruise experience that
matches the beauty of the bay," said
Kurt Walter, general manager of Emeraude
Classic Cruises. "It’s much easier to
appreciate the vistas when you’re
sleeping in luxury accommodation,
feasting on gourmet food and indulging
in a glass or two of an excellent
vintage."
The cruise will begin with a continental
breakfast at the Hanoi Press Club.
Guests will then board a bus to Halong
Bay where the Emeraude awaits. Once the
boat sets sail, drinks and a seafood
buffet lunch will be served.
In the afternoon, the Emeraude will
travel to Trong Cave, one of Halong
Bay’s most majestic caves, for an event
jointly sponsored by The Warehouse and
Heineken. Winemakers Baron Frederic de
Luze from France and Mark Newton from
the U.S. will introduce a selection of
their vintages at the event. "I’m trying
for an elegant, supple style," said
Newton. "I’m going for concentration of
fruit but not that big over ripe style."
Quyen Van Minh, the artist who initiated
the jazz movement in Hanoi 15 years ago
and owner of Minh’s Jazz Club, will
perform during the cruise.
After the event, passengers will return
to the Emeraude for cocktails on the
deck and a gala dinner. Executive Chef
Marcel Isaak of the Press Club will
delight guests with Cajun cuisine. Each
course will be accompanied by a
complimentary wine from The Warehouse.
The cost is US$150 per person on a
double/twin-sharing basis.
