On April 15, Vice Chairman of
the People’s Committee of Quang
Ninh province Nguyen Hong Quan,
who is also the Head of the
Support Committee for Ha Long
Bay, chaired an urgent meeting
with related agencies to seek
solutions for the case.
Quan said violating websites are
supporters of Ha Long Bay in the
world natural wonder poll.
Because of shortage of
knowledge, these websites
unintentionally caused the
removal of Ha Long Bay from the
poll. In addition, the Support
Committee for Ha Long didn’t
control the contents on these
websites. |
NewOpenWorld on April 14 temporarily
removed Ha Long Bay from its nomination
list of new world natural wonders, said
Ngo Hung, Head of the Ha Long Bay
Management Board.
The reason, according to Hung, is some
Vietnamese websites have pirated
New7wonders’ logo, photos and contents
of NewOpenWorld’s website.
On April 7, NewOpenWorld sent a letter
to warn the Ha Long Bay Management Board
of this situation and ask violating
websites, including www.tuoitre.com.vn,
www.thanhnien.com.vn and
www.halongwonder.com, to remove illegal
contents, but these websites did not.
On April 14, the Support Committee for
Ha Long Bay received a second letter
from NewOpenWorld, which said that the
organisation would temporarily remove
the Bay from the selection list until
Vietnamese websites deleted pirated
contents and followed NewOpenWorld’s
requirements. In this letter,
NewOpenWorld named one more violator,
www.diendan1080.com.
Hung said the Support Committee for Ha
Long Bay sent a dispatch to the
NewOpenWorld organisation committing to
quickly solve the violations and enforce
technical solutions to prevent piracy.
The committee also requested that the
Ministry of Information and
Communications help solve violations so
that Ha Long Bay could resume its
position on the selection list as soon
as possible.
When Ha Long Bay was removed from the
poll, it ranked first on the selection
list. Previously, two other scenic spots
of Vietnam, Phong Nha-Ke Bang and
Fansipan, were rejected from the poll
for not having official support
committees.
