Detail Itinerary
DAY 1: HANOI - HA LONG
Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi transfer to
Halong via Haiphong - Journey west along Highway
5, across Hai Hung Province and then across two
ferries from Hai Phong to Halong. Overnight in
Halong.( L)
DAY 2: HA LONG - CAT BA IALAND
Boat trip Halong Bay (8 hrs) - 8 hours trip
in Halong Bay past the islands of Trong, Mai,
Am, Chen and Cong Troi (Heaven Gates) with
visits of one of the following caves.
BA TRAI DAO:
"The three peaches" islands. BO NAU: 'Pelican' caves of
interest.
HANG DAU GO: huge cave consisting of three chambers which are reached
via 90 steps. The cave derives its Vietnamese
name from the third of the chambers, which is
said to have been used by Trang Hung Dao during
the 13th century to store bamboo stakes, used
against the Mongol invaders.
THIEN CUNG: "Heaven Palace"
HANH (DRY) CAVE: in the dry season it is possible to take a
small boat to discover the Hanh (Dry) cave.
SUNG SOT: "Surprise" Cave. One of the
biggest caves in Halong Bay Overnight in Cat Ba
Island.( B, L)
DAY 3: CAT BA ISLAND - TREKKING TOUR
CAT BA NATIONAL PARK: largest island in
Halong Bay and declared a NP in 1986 to protect
the island's diverse ecosystems which include
subtropical forests, swamp forests, offshore
coral reefs and mangrove forests. The park is
home to many types of mammals, species of birds,
trees and plants including many with medicinal
value.
TREKKING:
hikes include visits to remote minority villages
and caves. Overnight in Hai Phong
DAY 4: CAT BA - HAI PHONG - HANOI
Today we spend the morning exploring the Cat
Ba Island and in the afternoon we board a
hydrofoil or the local ferry for our trip to the
port city of Hai Phong. Here we transfer to our
vehicle for a 2-hour journey back to Hanoi. |
