Detail Itinerary
Day 1: Hanoi - Nghia Lo. ~180 km
Easy drive & ride on sealed road. Drive through
rural areas with beautiful rice field along the
road.
Day 2: Nghia Lo - Than Uyen. ~140 km
The road is wild and bumpy. Between Sapa and
Hanoi, we will find an important mountainous
massif, almost as high as the Fansipan: the Mu
Cang Chai. From the top, we have one of the most
beautiful views of North Vietnam.
Day 3: Than Uyen - Sapa. ~120 km
Walk/ stroll in the morning. Direction Sapa.
Day 4: Sapa - Trekking.
Sapa and Bac Ha are now quite touristy. However,
we can trek to Ta Van village where is dominated
by Giay people. We pass Lao Chai village on the
way and lunch could be in Lao Chai, Ta Van, or
wherever we want. The children will go together
with you along the way. We stay O/N in a stilt
house of Giay family, which is basic and rough.
Day 5: Sapa - Bac Ha. ~105 km
The ride from Sapa to Bac Ha takes ~3 hours,
down from Sapa to Lao Cai (34 km) and up to Bac
Ha (70 km) with stunning landscape. We check in
Dang Khoa Hotel and have lunch. In the
afternoon, we trek to Lung Phinh village (Phu La
people). Stay overnight in Bac Ha.
Day 6: Bac Ha - Luc Yen - Vu Linh. ~130 km +
3 h boat.
We start the ride from Bac Ha to Luc Yen, then
follow a small track, then a boat is waiting for
us to bring the bikes and us to Vu Linh, at our
Dao friends' village. We will cross all the lake
(~3 hours) and we estimate that you will reach
the village at about 18:00. It will be dark
already. The welcome is exceptional and we hope
you will not be too much tired.
Day 7: Vu Linh - Hanoi. ~180 km
The road is easy and relaxing. We will avoid
heavy traffic by taking this road.
