The central highlands cover the southern
part of the Truong Son Mountain range
and comprise the provinces of Lam Dong,
Daklak, Gia Lai and Kontum. The area is
home to several ethnic minority groups
with only about two million people, but
has always been considered important due
to its strategic location: close
proximity to the Cambodian border, the
Ho Chi Minh trail and national route 1A.
During the Vietnam War, considerable
fighting tooh place in this area which
is now renowned for its cool climate,
beautiful mountain scenery and tribal
culture |

Itinerary in brief
Day 1: HCMC - Pleiku - Kon Tum
Day 2: Kon Tum - Pleiku
Day 3: Pleiku-HCMC
Detail Itinerary
Day 1: HCMC - Pleiku - Kon Tum
Transfer to airport for flight to Pleiku.
Arrival in Pleiku and transfer to Kontum. Hotel
check-in. PM: visit to former Dakto battlefield
(1967): Charlie hill, Phuong Hoang airfield,
Dakto Museum. Then visit to suspension bridge
and Sedang hill-tribe village. Evening: show by
hill-tribe orphans. O/N in Kontum.
Day 2: Kon Tum - Pleiku
Visit to Kontum market and old bishopric office
building. Return to Pleiku for visit to An Khe
base and Dektu village, followed by liquor
sipping & gong show. O/N in Pleiku.
Day 3: Pleiku-HCMC
AM: visit to Ham Rong, Lake Iabang
(former American base) and Pleime. PM: transfer
to airport for return flight to HCMC, Transfer
to & O/N at hotel in HCMC.
