Son La, the fifth
largest province in the country, is located to the northwestern
region of Vietnam. Eighty percent of the province's natural area
is covered with mountains. The province is populated by various
ethnic groups, including the Ma, H'mong, Dao, Muong, Kinh,
Khmer, Tay, Thai, and so on. Son La has a temperate climate
throughout the year, the annual average temperature is about 21oC.
Economic potentialities: forestry, agriculture.
Tham Tet Tong is a complex of marvelous grottoes located
only 1.5km from Son La. Excursions to Tay Bac Mountains and
bathing at Ban Mong Hot Springs are available. Visits to ethnic
minorities hamlets are also popular.
Transport:
The town of Son La is 121km from
Moc Chau, 170km from Mai Chau, 310km Northwest of Hanoi. Moc
Chau is 199km from Hanoi.
Air: Na San Airport is 20km from Son La.
Flights only run once a week. A ticket can be booked at Son La

Bus: Road Bus connections with Hanoi's Kim
Ma station. Car rentals can be arranged in Son La for about US$
120 for a Son La-Hanoi round trip.
